Project Description
As a part of the government’s flood-control strategy, rehabilitation of 12 water pumping stations took place in Metro Manila in 2015 including Aviles Pumping Station.
The pumping stations, which have been in operation for 40 years, used to consume diesel to operate but are now powered by electricity. Repairs included increasing the capacity of the pumping stations and installing new computerized systems imported from the Netherlands.
Aviles Pumping Station pumps floodwaters from Estero de Aviles, Estero de Sampaloc, Estero de Uli-Uli and Estero de Calubcub and covers an area of 356 hectares from Sampaloc to the University Belt.
Challenge
Previously used pumping solutions were no longer applicable for the increased amount of stormwater and were often subjected to clogging. The renovation meant finding an up-to-date reliable high-performance solution, which would provide energy efficiency, have long operating time and be easily serviced.
Solution
Flygt propeller pump offered by Gotesco is a win-win solution for the application. The patented N-technology assures a self-cleaning pump resulting in no unplanned stops and reduced energy bills due to its sustained high efficiency.
